Vintage Aldis 100/150 Slide Projector 1960s — Gunmetal, Fully Working
A classic British slide projector from the 1960s — the Aldis 100/150, finished in its distinctive gunmetal grey. The Aldis was a staple of British living rooms and school halls throughout the 1960s and 70s, bringing holiday slides and family memories to life on the wall. Fully working and a wonderful piece of mid-century British domestic technology.
Condition
- Overall: Fully working (not PAT tested).
- Cosmetic: A few cosmetic marks, small scratches, and wear marks on the casing. In some areas the colour has worn through to the natural metal beneath — consistent with age and use, and adds to the patina.
- Electrical: Working. We would suggest rewiring to a more aesthetically pleasing cord and plug if using for display or regular use.
Provenance
- Maker: Aldis Brothers Ltd, Birmingham, England — a well-regarded British optical and photographic equipment manufacturer with roots going back to the early 20th century. Aldis produced a range of projectors, lenses, and optical instruments, and their slide projectors were among the most popular in Britain throughout the 1960s and 70s.
- Model: Aldis 100/150 — a versatile slide projector capable of handling both 100 and 150 watt bulbs.
- Era: 1960s — the golden age of the family slide show.
- Appeal: A beautifully designed piece of British industrial design — the gunmetal finish and clean lines make it as much a display object as a working projector. Popular with interior stylists, prop buyers, and collectors of mid-century domestic technology.
